The
Akmerkez complex is established on 180,000 square
meters and comprises a four story shopping area consisting
of 246 shops, providing outstanding women's, men's
and children's clothing and textiles, stationery,
toys, sports, shoes, eyewear and gift shops along
with restaurants, cinemas, hairdressers, banks, a
currency exchange office, electronic goods, orthopedic
goods, car accesories, shoe shine services, a tailor,
a pet shop, and a supermarket for all the shoppers'needs.

Carrefoursa
was established in 1996 as a joint venture between
Sabanci Holding and Carrefour, the leading French
hypermarket chain. In 1993, Carrefour opened its first
hypermarket in Istanbul incorporating a closed sales
area of 15,000 square meters. A second store with
an area of 10,000 square meters was opened in Adana
in 1997. In 2000, three new stores in Izmir, Izmit
and Ümraniye - Istanbul started operations, followed
by two more stores in Bursa - Nilüfer and Ankara
in 2001 and an additional store in Acibadem - Istanbul
in 2002. |
